Rice is everyday staple food in Thailand. To Thai people, however, rice is more than a part of daily meal and even goes beyond major export product of the nation. Many aspects of Thai culture have a deep connection and associate with rice cultivation. Rice is always treated with due respect and Thai people believes in "The Rice Goddess". More importantly, we believe that one should NOT waste rice during one's consumption, because every grain of rice is made from sweat and hardship of Thai farmers.
There are many varieties of rice in Thailand. But they can be grouped into many few classifications including Jasmine rice (Thai Hom Mali Rice), Glutinous Rice (Sticky Rice), White Rice and Healthy Rice.
